My (32nd!!!) birthday is a few weeks away and people are starting to ask what I’d like. I’d love to be the kind of person that says “please, don’t even worry about it” but if there’s an opportunity to get a new book or journal…
I’ve already got a couple of things on the way (the new feminist authors Books That Matter box and this new 160gsm bullet journal from Notebook Therapy, plus I’m waiting for the autumn Ecoline pens to come back into stock) but there are a few other things I have my eye on.
There are a few books I’ve borrowed from the library which I’d like to add to my permanent collection (Home Fire, A Place For Us, Hashtag Authentic, First, We Make the Beast Beautiful) but I do like to prioritise ‘new’ books this time of year. Here’s a selection of the dozens I’ve spotted on #Bookstagram and screenshotted for a later date.
Rotten Movies We Love £13.99
It’s Not OK to Feel Blue, £10.24
Dear Girls by Ali Wong, £10.99
The Places I’ve Cried in Public by Holly Bourne, £5.70
The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur, £7.33
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur, £5.89
Book light, £19.99
I think I’ve tried most of the dot grid notebooks and brush pens worth talking about but I’ve still got a couple on my list. Plus there are some rather epic (and expensive) advent calendars.
Draw Breath, £10.49
Our Story Begins notebook. £17.14
Stationery tote bag, £12.00
Tits notebook (hardback dot grid), £19.99
Martha Brook advent calendar, £89.00
Diamine Inkvent Advent Calendar, £67.00
Modern Calligraphy Gift Set, £30.00
Best of the rest
Of course, I’m all about self-care and self-compassion, so I’ve got a couple of BuddyBoxes and Miss Patisserie products on the list.
I thought I’d give the kid a quick shout-out here too. He’s so excited for Christmas and we’re already pondering what to put in his letter to Father Christmas. The main thing he wants is a Rex the Dinosaur (from Toy Story), so we’ll be getting that. I’ve already got a few Julia Donaldson books (his collection is nearly complete) and put back some related memorabilia. I’m so proud to be raising a mini bookworm and film geek.
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, £5.15
The Ugly Five. £4.00
A Squash and a Squeeze, £5.21
The Smeds and the Smoos, £6.99
Woody costume, £11.25
Zog costume. £11.25
What’s on your Christmas list?
