Yep, you read that blog post title right: a snow day. In Cornwall of all places! I was sat in the office, minding my own business on Wednesday morning when a little flurry started. A few minutes later, I looked out of my window and the ground was covered. A quick Twitter check revealed that buses had already stopped in the area and I needed to get home sharpish. I managed to get a lift part-way and a train the rest of the way and I was home in time for lunch.
The campus soon closed and I didn’t have to do much work from home. After a couple of hours work, the snow had let up for a bit, so we popped out for a quick walk with Jenson for photos.
Here’s a look at the other things I’ve loved this week.
Read: I had a short week at work this week so couldn’t finish Harry Potter on the bus – so I was a total nerd and took it to bed last night. I’m definitely a convert and can’t wait for the subsequent Hufflepuff paperback releases.
Did you do anything special for World Book Day?
My giveaway is live until Wednesday night, so if you fancy winning your very own Literary Emporium t-shirt, check out my World Book Day post.
Watched: The Walking Dead returned to our screens this week and I was sooo disappointed. The loss of that character didn’t pack the emotional punch it should have due to the dodgy lighting and weird editing. I mean, seriously, who thought that episode looked good?!
Heard: I’ve been sat in the office a bit more with Luke this week and have been exposed to his quirky musical preferences. I have to say, I was rather impressed with this NF chap.

Made: Did I mention that my surgery was rescheduled again? I swear people with germs gravitate towards me and so, come last weekend, I was snotting all over the place and a temperature of 37.4 on Monday morning meant I had to reschedule. Again. Of course, the extra time at home meant that I was able to bake biscuits with Jenson. We had a crack at these unicorn biscuits from Asda but didn’t get on with the stencil. Fortunately I found a heart-shaped cookie cutter in the cupboard, so we made a few of those up. Jenson loved mixing the ingredients together and the all-important job of adding the sprinkles. They tasted pretty good too!
Then on snow day we made some more cakes.
Wore: Nothing exciting to report here, although at some point last weekend I misplaced my lovely long, thick scarf and couldn’t seem to find my mittens and earmuffs this week either. Go figure!
And lastly: My beautiful niece arrived in the world on Wednesday morning and I’m super excited to meet her this weekend. Just need to shift the last of this cold first.
And that’s another week at Casa de Cornish Geek wrapped up. Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Definitely agree about TWD! The scenes were way too dark. The link between *that* character’s story, and the other story they were pushing was so tenuous that it was cringy. I still enjoy the show because I absolutely adore some of the characters, but it’s definitely lost it’s way. With the loss of *that* character, it’s taken a hugely significant steer away from the source material and that kind of scares me a bit as it’s losing out on a fantastic storyline!
Yeah I read about the online uproar re. the move away from the comics. Really need to catch up
Ah congratulations what wonderful news I bet you cant wait to meet her, and this weather has caused chaos hasn’t it? We couldn’t get our for days, and now it looks a mess I will be glad when it melts now, but i have a feeling that will take a while up here, lets hope we have a sunnier week x
The snow appeared so quickly. I think we are all so used to just getting a sprinkling that we dismiss a flurry as just that. Looks like you had some fun with Jenson outdoors in the snow.
We didn’t finish the last season of TWD – I just lost interest, which is such a shame because the first few series are amazing! It’s just lost its way. Lovely news on becoming an Aunty, my sister is due her first in July. Enjoy your weekend xx
I’m so with you on THAT Walking Dead episode. I spent much of it eye rolling. They dragged it out and it was super cheesey too. Very disappointing. I wasn’t blown away with this Monday’s episode either. I hope it gets back on track soon. x
Yeah I’ve not even rushed to watch this week’s yet ☹
