It’s the last time I’ll be doing an end of summer countdown as Jenson starts Big School in a mere four sleeps! Fortunately for him, we’ll still be hanging out with his bestie, even though they’re at different schools (we’ve got a lunch date planned for tomorrow) and we’ve still got a few more days before everything changes. Luke and I are both off all week to prepare for this rather epic milestone, so I might even be able to squeeze in a cheeky lie-in. Here’s a look back at last week’s shenanigans.
Library books
One of my favourite types of emails to get is the one from the library saying that a reservation is available. Last week I picked up How to Style Your Brand by Fiona Humberstone and Burnout: The Secret to Solving the Stress Cycle by Emily and Amelia Nagoski. I’ll report back soon.
New stationery
Another of my favourite emails is Abrams & Chronicle’s seasonal catalogues and I couldn’t resist this cutie (review copy). I shared a sneak peek of the inside on my Stories but I’m just going to tease you with the cover for now as a review is on the way.
Afternoon tea
There are few things I love more than a good afternoon tea. The Front Room in Penzance recently came under new ownership and it’s even better than before, with cocktails, tapas, silent discos and afternoon teas. I treated my bestie for his birthday last week and I was impressed at the sheer volume of cake. We both would have liked more sandwiches though – maybe we’re showing our age!
Seasonal shift
Autumn may not officially begin until 23 September but I can definitely feel it in the air – and see it on the ground. I love this in between stage where you don’t need a coat yet. It won’t be long until I’m getting home from work in the dark.
Weekend bakes
Jenson asked to bake a banana cake yesterday and we threw in some carrot too – he was disappointed not to see carrot cake in our afternoon tea selection! I managed to time this one perfectly and I think we’ll be enjoying this for the next couple of days.

The Hels Project is one of my favourite Instagram accounts and I love her #averybookishpost community. She’s upped her game this month with a daily challenge and I’m really looking forward to taking part. I loved seeing the initial posts pop up yesterday.
While I’m somewhat anxious about Friday, I’m super excited for Saturday because I’m off to Martha Brook’s Stationery Social! I was gifted a ticket and will, of course, be reporting back. Keep an eye on my Stories for all the action live.

The afternoon tea looks delicious! I also love this time of year where you don’t need to wear a coat yet but there’s definitely signs that autumn is coming with the cooler mornings and evenings.
