Exploring Cornwall: Cornwall Design Fair 2016

Last night I was lucky enough to be invited along to the preview of the Cornwall Design Fair 2016.

Held At Trereife House, it’s an annual exhibition of the best of contemporary crafts and design, hosting an incredible 72 designer-makers this year.

I went along with my fab friend, Ginette, and I fell in love with so many of the stands. I really do recommend going along this weekend if you can. It’s open from 10am-5pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday.

If you’re not down this neck of the woods, I’ve included some photographs of my favourite pieces as well as links to where you can find the exhibitors’ work.

The first stand we went to was one of my favourites of the whole evening. I’m now infatuated with Rachel Elliott Glassworks. How gorgeous are these animals? I picked up a sheet of her rabbit stickers to decorate my bullet journal with.

Walking around, I was clearly drawn to certain types of products, but I also loved the attention to detail with some of the stand set-ups. I love these bobble hats from Maxine Pharoah.

I didn’t realise how much I loved glass work! There were so many beautiful products on show and I particularly loved the colourful designs by Aline Johnson Glass Design.

I’m a sucker for anything with a rabbit on these days so Sam Pickard‘s work was bound to be a favourite of mine. A chap on her stand was even happy to pose for me!

And the woodland animals just kept on coming. How adorable is this print from Julia Davey Ceramics? The penguins are pretty awesome too.

Each Peach has been a favourite of mine since I first spotted her work at Outlaw a few years back. I love these bookmarks and notebooks!

One of my absolute favourite finds of the evening was these lightboxes from Humble Cottage. They come with a remote to change the colour of the light and you can swap the plates out too. I love the ‘we can be heroes’ sign – perfect for Jenson’s room! They do other awesome stuff too, like these tiles and signs. I could fill my house!

There are clear trends in whatever industry you work in, whether it’s blogging or design, and it’s always nice to see someone truly stand out. Enter House by Hazel. From her brilliantly lit logo to her bright and beautiful prints, this stand was another clear favourite. I’d love to furnish my home with her work!

Mellybee is another favourite from the Outlaw circuit – and she’s recently undergone a makeover. I’m loving the black and gold and the little banners are perfect for Jenson’s room.

I really loved the simplicity of Esther Connon‘s illustrations and, in particular, her concertina books.

When it comes to inspiring quotes and prints, I’m a sucker for anything that says ‘never stop exploring’ (despite having never travelled) and it’s something I want to keep telling Jenson as he grows up. Jago Illustration has some great prints and mugs – a must for any traveller/explorer.

Ginette mentioned the Etsy Makers Cornwall Christmas Market and I’m definitely going to pop along to that too. Can’t wait!
