One of my favourite days of the year is finally here – the announcement of the programme for the Cornwall Film Festival. And this year it certainly doesn’t disappoint.
Feature films include Quartet (Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut), About Elly (the latest from the director of the Oscar-winning A Separation) and the Chemical Brothers’ Don’t Think, as well as screenings of classics such as Labyrinth, Straw Dogs (which was largely shot in Cornwall) and When Harry Met Sally (in tribute to the late Nora Ephron).
Plus, of course, my must-see film, Sightseers (from writer-director Ben Wheatley, whose previous films were the critically acclaimed Down Terrace and Kill List).
The documentaries list includes the Sundance-winning Indie Game: The Movie, which looks rather interesting, and dozens of local, national and international filmmakers have their titles in competition throughout the weekend. There will also be plenty of networking opportunities and causes for celebration, including a fancy dress evening where viewers are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite film character!
Tickets will go on sale on Thursday. Get ’em while you can!
