Tomorrow we’re moving house – our fourth house in four years! And we’ve been in some beauties. First, a tiny, damp, one-bedroom flat in Penzance, often frequented by slugs and with a building fire alarm which liked to go off in the middle of the night. You’re not missing much by not seeing any pics – the only ones I could find were of our teeny Christmas tree. We were there for about 18 months, until I got a job in Falmouth. The commute was shit – to save money I would stay at work til 7pm to get a coach home which only cost a couple of quid each way.
Then we moved to a two-bedroom house in Camborne. The location was better for work, right across the road from Tesco and next to a bus stop. It was the first place where we could have our own designated office space – I had the little nook which is at the other end of living room, pictured below.
After about eight months, we had the opportunity to move to a place with an extra bedroom and £100 a month cheaper rent! Who could day no? It was a bit further from work but the house was lovely. We started out with separate offices but that meant spending our evenings apart. So I moved into The Man Cave!
When I found out I was pregnant, it seemed like the perfet place to raise our child/ren – enclosed gardens, family area, nearby parks and beaches, great nursery and primary school… Then, about six weeks ago, we found out we had to move. Argh! But within 24 hours we had found somewhere else to live! Apart from adding another half an hour each way to my daily commute, it was perfect – three bedrooms, huge living room, good-sized nursery, new kitchen and bathroom (mostly still to be fitted), park right next door, beach directly over the road… and the best bit? Long term let! No more moving every year! And it would be ready in time for us to move and get settled before my due date. Here’s what it looked like that first day (‘scuse the rather unflattering pic of the boyfriend!)…
Lots to do! Fitting the kitchen, clearing out old furniture, stripping the wallpaper, a few coats of paint, shampoo the carpet – perfect when the boyfriend has no more holiday left to take and I can’t exactly help. All hands on deck! This is what it looked like three days ago…
My lovely baby brother has laid a new floor in the baby’s room and my dad repainted the room. My mum and aunt re-wallpapered the bedroom and started on the living room and mum and the boyfriend papered the library. We just needed the landlord to clear out the rest of the old stuff and get the kitchen finished off, ready for the last bits of glossing and then we could shampoo the carpet and have it all clean and shiny ready to move in.
Wish us luck! If Sky have their asses in gear, we might even have our internet sorted ready to show you how incredible the place looks by the end of the week! Fingers crossed…

Good luck in your new place š I have moved wayyy too many times in my life, really hoping to never do it again unless I win the lottery, may then consider moving to a mansion š
