This is my fourth blog but the first one where I’ve really posted about my personal life. I made the decision early on to not feature anyone else in my day-to-day life because I figured it wasn’t fair to reveal things about them without their permission/if they didn’t like it. As such, although I’ve often referred to ‘the boyfriend’, I’ve never named him and have only shared the odd picture.
Before I started blogging about my pregnancy, I asked him if he would mind if I shared photos and stories about the baby as he grows up, or if that would be too invasive, and he was happy for me to do so. As this blog becomes more about my life rather than just the things that I fall in love with online, I figured it was time for the big reveal. With that, I give you… Luke!
As this blog nears its third birthday (couldn’t quite believe that when I just checked the date on my first post!), you’ll be pretty familiar with who I am by now – marketeer by day, blogger by night, former roller derbyist, geekazoid, feminist, book worm, etc… As Luke is such a big part of my life, and will become a bigger feature in this blog as our family continues to grow, I thought I’d give you a little York Notes version of him and our relationship – in my favourite top ten list style.

1. We met at work and were friends for a couple of years before we got together four and a half years ago
2. He makes me believe in myself and inspires me to go for things when I don’t think I can do it
3. He’s a bigger geek than I am

4. He can make me laugh even when I’m being the grumpiest of grumps
5. He hates that I watch Neighbours but will often sit through a whole episode with me – and will ask questions if he has missed part of a storyline!

6. I love how passionate he is about photography
7. Our jobs/work hours mean we only get to spend one day together a fortnight (roll on maternity leave!) and, although I loved our fun days out last summer, sometimes I love nothing more than having a lie in, lazing around the house all day, winding each other up, watching movies and cooking dinner together

8. Although we go out and take photos a lot, we don’t have many of us together. He refuses to take selfies with me (probably for the best!) and when I argue that when we’re old and will want to look back on them, he argues that he can remember being there by seeing the places and doesn’t need to see us. Hopefully we’ll have loads of lovely family snaps rather than just portraits of the little ‘un!
9. He’ll sit and watch One Born Every Minute and 16 And Pregnant with me because I don’t want to watch the scary bits on my own
10. Watching him play with our nephew makes my ovaries explode and I can’t wait to see what he’s like as a daddy!
Stay tuned as we embark on parenthood together – eek!
