The other night the new place really felt like home. Luke’s dad recently bought a projector which we have on loan and it’s great for watching epic shit in the office.
Most of the boxes are emptied or stored away now so we’ve got a massive amount of free space in the middle of the room. There’s a huge blank white wall for Luke to use for headshots etc (the office is doubling as a photography studio) so it lends itself really well to watching movies in the evening. We still haven’t got curtain poles and curtains up yet so we have to wait for it to get pretty late to be able to watch anything.
The other night we dragged in the duvet and pillows, cooked up some chicken and potato skins and watched a film on what is the equivalent of 80-inch screen. It was super comfy and cosy – the perfect night in.
Since then we’ve been catching up on TV shows in the office too, watching The Flash, Arrow, Daredevil and Game of Thrones upstairs rather than the living room. As the pregnancy drags on, I’m finding the sofa the comfiest place in the house so I’ve transferred the sofa cushions to the office floor – my desk chair isn’t remotely comfortable at the moment!
We tend to spend most of our time in the office when we’re at home so it’s great to have that extra space between our desks when the baby comes – plenty of room for the play gym!
Although the house still isn’t completely finished (I’ve got very high standards so I’m not quite ready to share photos with you yet!), I thought I’d throw in a couple of office photos here so you can see why we love this space so much. When we had our first visitors after moving in we were asked why we didn’t have the biggest room for our bedroom but it makes much more sense to make the most of this incredible space. You like?
Because our fridge freezer doesn’t fit in our kitchen, we thought about having the Thor fridge downstairs for the essentials to stop walking through the rest of the house just to get milk, but having cold drinks and ice cream on hand in the office is much handier – and means we don’t have to go downstairs every five minutes. Although the downstairs bathroom isn’t helping while I’m pregnant!
I thought I’d miss going out while sitting at home like a beached whale but we aren’t ones for going out clubbing or getting pissed anyways. I’d much rather have a night like this any day – plus it’s something which you can easily do with a baby. Who says you have to miss out?!

This is just awesome on so many levels! Thaw fridge, giant office/entertainment room and a projector. What do you use your living room for? ^_^
Haha, thanks. Our living room has the big TV and sofa at one end and the dining table at the other. It’s a nice big space – we’re very lucky! Plenty of space for a little ‘un to run around in.
