I’m writing this post on Wednesday night because, as you read this, I’ll be working in London for the day, having just spent the day in Brighton at a conference. Go me! So, as you can imagine, I wanted to get in some quality time with Jenson before spending two days out of the county. And we had a great weekend!
Fire station open day
We went last year and had to go again. Like most kids, Jenson loves fire engines, so having the chance to see one up close, and sit in it, is an opportunity not to be missed. The firefighters were great too, especially as Jenson isn’t the most sociable child. One firefighter in particular was patient and calm with him, showing him the various elements of the new vehicle.
He also had his face painted for the first time and I was astounded by how well he sat. I wanted to bring the face painter home with me. I’ve never seen him so still and quiet.
Jubilee Pool
I also took Jenson to Jubilee Pool for the first time – and it certainly won’t be the last. He loved it there! We were there for three hours, playing with his cousins, but could have stayed all day – I was just a bit wary of him being out in the sun all day without shade. It’s £5 entry for adults, free for under fours and 20% off for locals – bargain! I must check out the cafe next time.
Library
We pop to the library every week or two to refresh our collection and have a play. It’s usually quiet when we go and Jenson loves exploring the books, toys and outdoor area.
The Cornish Barn & Waterside Meadery
Jenson and I have been battling a tummy bug for the last couple of days (imagine the worst hangover ever where you can’t keep anything down or move without acheing – and throw in a three year old who can’t stop being sick. Yep. That) but fortunately it improved in time for my work trip – and a visit from Luke’s friends. I managed a small, plain meal at the Waterside Meadery (no pictures because Jenson was busy watching Paw Patrol and being an absolute angel!) and a cheeky strawberry lemonade at The Cornish Barn. I love that place!
I’ll catch you up on Brighton and London next week. Have a lovely weekend! 🙂
