A few of my favourite things #96

Well, happy Monday to ya! I missed posting this update last week so you’re in for a bumper nerdy post today, you lucky thing you.

Wall art

I took a different route home with Jenson the other day and spotted this beautiful wall art. It just screams Martha Brook and I need to pop back with Luke one day when I look vaguely presentable for a photo.

Family fun days

I’ve been continuing my quest to squeeze in as much fun with Jenson as possible this summer. An inflatable theme park came to town, so we headed over with his cousins. He was so excited to meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse. I nearly cried when he ran over to Minnie Mouse and she bent down to give him a cuddle <3

Due to miscommunication online, we missed the Newlyn Raft Race, but there’s always time for a Jelbert’s ice cream. Jenson didn’t want one – is he even mine? Gotta have cream and a flake with it. I’m proud that I’ve been downsizing to a small all summer. Don’t wanna be too greedy.

Cornish summer

How bleddy ‘ansum is this weather we’ve been having? It’s doing wonders for my mood. I’ve found that, even on days when I’m super stressed, just going out for a short walk or sitting outside for ten minutes on my lunch break makes such a difference.

Jenson asked to make ginger bunny biscuits the other day (thanks, Bing!) but we compromised and made dinosaur shortbread with white chocolate and rainbow sprinkles. I was surprised at how well they turned out cos the dough was crumbly AF. I think I’m gonna give them another go tomorrow. It’s Jenson’s pre-school leaving ceremony on Wednesday (I’m gonna be a mess!) and there’s a lovely (note the sarcasm) bake-off competition. Wish me luck!

Simply Lettering

If you didn’t stop by last week, you might have missed that I took part in the Simply Lettering blog hop.

This awesome new lettering mag launched last week and I’m enjoying making my way through the magazine and workbook. There will be plenty of updates as I track my progress.

World Calligraphy Day 2019

If you liked my Simply Lettering post, you’ll love what I’ve got coming up for World Calligraphy Day (14 August, save the date!). I was sent all of these Manuscript Pen Company and Silvine goodies to celebrate – some will be reviewed and some will appear in giveaways. Let me know in the comments if you’d rather see one big giveaway hosted on the blog or one each on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

If you regularly read my Stories you’ll know that I’ve been attempting to grow sweetpeas this year – and they’ve finally started flowering! I just need to track down my old tiny vase so I can start some small cuttings.

Food, glorious food

I have a gratitude section in my bullet journal where I write down something I’m thankful for every day. A lot of the time it’s Luke’s cooking! This photo doesn’t do it justice. The other night he made some kind of pork, potato, asparagus, creamy mushroom thing and it was bleddy incredible. More please!

And that’s the last fortnight at Casa de Cornish Geek! As I already mentioned, it’s Jenson’s pre-school leaving ceremony on Wednesday (although he’ll be there for the rest of the summer) and I’ve got a Mums’ Night Out booked in for Friday, so it’s all fun and games around here.

Hope you have a good one 🙂
