It was the boyfriend’s birthday on Friday and gorgeous weather so we made the most of our time together in the sunshine – by going for an epic walk!
We got the bus to St Ives for a quick wander through the town before heading off on a coastal walk. I’ve always said I wouldn’t want to live in St Ives because it is absolutely heaving with tourists in the summer but there are so many amazing homes with views to die for. I even fell in love with aspects as simple as the names of the houses! Can I have them all?
Walking through St Ives before the holidays kick off is lovely – especially when you’re walking with someone who grew up there and knows all the quiet back roads! The views are beautiful wherever you are – even at a cemetery! And the seagulls are bearable here, as long as they keep their distance… One dive-bombed me a bit cos he thought my camera was food… Not so smart!
There are some really quirky shops on the high street and I quite liked this shop sign.
It’s not just the views that make the walk worthwhile – the greenery is pretty incredible too.
Neither of us are good with heights but it seems he’s a lot better than me as he got much closer to the edge!
How amazing are these views?! It looks practically tropical!
No matter how hard we looked we couldn’t find how people got down there to walk their dogs and go rockpooling…
We had dinner reservations so had to call it a day after a couple of hours – we didn’t want to risk walking all the way to Land’s End!
We wandered back to town past Porthmeor Beach and I made a mental note to come back for my first surfing lesson. Looks like a nice place! And great-looking places to eat too.
I can’t get over how many beautiful houses there are on the back streets. Maybe I could cope with living here after all!
It wasn’t too busy along the harbour – except just outside the pubs! We managed to get a few snaps without holding up the traffic of people passing through.
Loads of people were out on the water – jealous! Definitely gonna have to try kayaking this summer (more on my summer bucket list later in the week).
Now that’s a sight for sore eyes with all of the England flags flying at the moment!
All that walking really makes the tummy grumble so we popped into The Lifeboat Inn for something to eat. Sharing the mezze platter was such a good shout – I couldn’t believe it when they kept bringing more plates out. Yum!
We still had room for our evening meals at Trevaskis Farm (just)! I didn’t take any food photos in the evening as the boyfriend gets a tad frustrated with me taking photos of everything I eat lately… I’ll do a separate post with my recent wanderings over there. In the meantime, here are some of the cute farmyard animals at dusk.
How cute are these cute little piggies? Just don’t remind me how much I like bacon!
