New favourite TV show: Elementary

I’m a sucker for American crime dramas – The Mentalist, Castle, Fringe… I never got into the British show Sherlock, and was reasonably entertained by Robert Downey Jr’s Sherlock Holmes, but I didn’t think I’d like Elementary as much as I have so far. It’s only two episodes in in the UK but it has quickly become one of my favourite TV shows – despite starring Lucy Lui, who I don’t normally care for too much. And Johnny Lee Miller seemed like an odd casting choice but it seems to work really well. Originally, I complained a bit to the boyfriend that it felt too much like Patrick in The Mentalist or Castle in, um,  Castle, but he informed me that these guys have been heavily influenced by Sherlock, so it’s all good!

If you’ve missed the first two episodes, catch up now on Sky on demand. It’s on Sky Living on Tuesdays at 9pm.
