National Stationery Week: Write a Letter Day with Inkly

It’s the last day of National Stationery Week. Boo hiss! There should be at least a fortnight dedicated to the awesomeness that is stationery.

Today is Write a Letter Day, something I’ve always been in the habit of. I often had pen friends growing up – I wrote to a friend I met at a summer group for a couple of years and I wrote to my cousin while she was moving around (her dad was in the army). Then, when I started uni (nine years ago – man, I feel old!), I regularly wrote to a friend back home, my gran and my bestie in Cardiff. In fact, we still send cards and postcards back and forth now. So when Inkly* asked me if I’d be interested in trying their new card app for National Stationery Week, I was interested in giving it a go.

I’m not normally a fan of sites where you send a card in the post and your message is printed as I like to hand-write cards, but with Inkly they print your hand-written message and take care of the postage. Everyone’s a winner!

It only takes a couple of minutes to make it. You just download the free app and select your design. I wanted to send a postcard to my friend in Cardiff and was able to upload my own photograph. I thought I’d send one of sunny Cornwall to try and convince her to come visit again soon!

Then you decide what you want on the back…

All you have to do is write your message on a piece of plain paper and photograph it.

It uploads straight to the app and displays on the reverse of the postcard.

Pretty nifty, huh! And all for under £2!

Pippa was away in Italy at the time (a tad more exotic than Cornwall!) and came home to a postcard.

It must have worked because she’s down for the Bank Holiday weekend! We’re off out for breakfast tomorrow with our partners and a mutual friend. I’m looking forward to seeing her before the baby comes – the last time I saw her I was only 14 weeks pregnant and still suffering from morning sickness, so it’ll be nice to be able to eat properly!

I highly recommend Inkly and reckon it’ll be a great way to send thank you cards to people when the baby comes. That way they get a cute photo at the same time and I don’t even have to pop out to the post office!
