My perfect day out

My bestie left the most incredible link on my Facebook timeline the other day. Regular readers of this blog will know that I’m a massive Audrey Hepburn fan (see previous posts here) – I’ve got dozens of books, every DVD, posters, prints, I’ve been to a photography exhibition… She really was the most fabulous woman on the planet. Anyhoo, I mentioned before that there’s another awesome exhibition on at the mo. And it gets better! Audrey brunch! Yes, really!

The Covent Garden Hotel is hosting an Audrey film series. For £45, you gain entrance to the exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, a ticket to a screening plus a two-course brunch, served with a glass of Prosecco. That really is my idea of the perfect day out.

The film series runs until 4 October with previous titles including Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Sabrina and Funny Face. The next two titles lined up are Charade and Roman Holiday – two of my faves! I can’t think of a better way to spend £45 – or a day in London. Me and the bestie have already gone to an Audrey photography exhibition, the Hollywood costume exhibit at the V&A and been to see original clothing worm by Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe. This would be a pretty perfect addition to the list.

For now, this Cornish film geek will be putting the exhibition catalogue on her Christmas list and hoping that the Cornwall Film Festival will be adding an Audrey flick to their new programme. Fingers crossed!
