The big 2-8

On Friday I turned 28. 28! I still feel like I’m just out of uni (probably not helped by my dropping out, starting again and later doing a PGCE, so I guess I’m only a few years out really, but still) and I’m sat here typing with a sleeping six month old baby next to me, just two years shy of my 30th birthday. Eek!

Once you become a parent, your birthday changes. You’re no longer the centre of everyone’s universe for that one special day. Boo. But you’re the centre of your child’s universe, so there’s that! Luke did his best to make sure I had as relaxing a day as possible – no mean feat considering it was Jenson’s worst teething day to date. He did the night feed, let me lie in, paced up and down with him, made me pancakes for breakfast and cleaned up at the end of the day. And I spent the whole day in PJs. It was actually pretty awesome.

I’m a super-lucky girl to have so many lovely people in my life who buy me pretty things!

FYI, you’re never too old for birthday cake!

It was lovely just spending the day at home with my boys. Once Jenson settled down for the night we got some Chinese, started watching Jessica Jones and I treated myself to a whole cider. Don’t worry, we kicked it up a notch the next night. My mum babysat and we went out for dinner at Blacks (where we went for our ‘last meal’ when I was pregnant) and met some friends for drinks. We were out til nearly midnight – the horror!

For my next birthday, I’m going to have a toddler on my hands. Woah…
