Friday Favourites #19

This week’s Friday Favourites is a bit of a watching/reading/listening update as I haven’t really been out and done much. I know, shocking, right! You might have noticed it’s been a bit quiet on the old blog too. I’ve had a string of days where Jenson has gone to bed 9-10pm and I’ve been too knackered to do anything at the end of the day, especially as I spend at least four hours a day just travelling to and from work. In fact, I’m writing this post in bed on Friday morning. It’s my lie-in day but because I fell asleep so early last night, I was wide awake at 8.30am. Not one to waste this one bit of me-time in the week, I’m trying to get ahead on blog posts and emails, start planning my Christmas gift guide posts, search online for that perfect winter coat and make a start on this post, which I’ll inevitably end up finishing late tonight! Ramble over! Here’s what I’ve been loving this week.

1. Wilbur the penguin. Jenson loves the penguin in the British Gas ads and I tweeted them saying that they should totally make a movie with the little guy. They’re not doing a movie but they do have cuddly toys and we got one in the post last weekend! He comes in a special mail order box, complete with certificate, passport and coat and scarf. Such a great marketing job! Jenson loves him.

2. Little Mix’s new single. I loved these girls when they were on X Factor and their songs are always so freakin’ catchy! Jenson sat up watching last week’s X Factor with me and he bopped his head through most of their performance, so you know it’s a good song! I haven’t actually bought any new music for ages. Since switching to an Android phone, I have to admit that I don’t actually know how to get music on it… Anyone…?

3. Reading. I’ve got through quite a few books on the bus this week, finishing last week’s Headhunters (highly recommended – need to see the film) and reading I Am Legend (1950s book, not like the film – need to re-watch that too!) and I picked up The Twits as a filler. Bit of a mix there!

4. Penny’s wedding dress. Weddings aren’t even on my radar but even I can appreciate this beautiful dress. I’d totally want a cute mid-length fit with my upper arms covered. Perfect!

5. Food bargains. I love the Co-op £5 deals. This week we got a lasagne (in a dish we can re-use), chips, peas, garlic dough balls and ice cream! It’s an affordable solution for those evenings when you can’t bring yourself to cook – just bung it all in the oven. Cheaper than takeaway too!
