I’ve been super proud of myself and my blog this week. I often suffer with Imposter Syndrome but I’m starting to feel a lot more confident in my writing and worthy of the praise I’ve been receiving. If you follow me on social media (links in the sidebar to the right there >>>) you may have noticed that I’ve been selected as one of Busy B’s Brand Ambassadors, so expect to see even more exciting stationery reviews on the blog soon. I’ve also had some great responses to my Christmas giveaway (more on that in a bit) and I’m pleased to see that brands want to work with me again. I’m already looking forward to seeing how my blog will grow in 2018. But enough looking to the future, let’s take a look back at what I’ve loved over the last week.
Read: Turtles All the Way Down by John Green. Luke pre-ordered this for me a couple of weeks ago (I know, he’s such a good egg!) and I smashed it in two days on the bus. It could possibly be my favourite story of his to date (yes, I’ve read them all. Including the collection of short stories he contributed to and the one he co-wrote). It focuses on 16-year-old Aza, who embarks on a mission with her best friend to track down a local billionaire fugitive in order to score the $100,000 reward. But, like all good books, that’s not what it’s really about. You see, teenage life constantly presents its own problems and Aza has a habit of getting lost in endless thought spirals with no way out. It’s a hard-hitting look at mental illness in young people and, while it didn’t make me cry like The Fault in Our Stars, it’s possibly more moving. Give it a read.
Watched: TV besides kids cartoons. I saw the return of The Big Bang Theory, the first two episodes of Gameface, started watching Man Down with Luke in the evenings when Jenson is starting to settle for the night and was genuinely gutted when Liam left The Bake Off. Seriously, it should have been Kate, right? Oh, and I’m still really into Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Heard: The Smiths. We’ve had some choons with a capital ‘ch’ on in the office lately. Faves this week have included The Smiths and The Cure, which just makes me want to watch (500) Days of Summer again.
Made: Jenson laugh. It’s normally Luke who gets the big belly laughs but I got one the other day – thanks to fake burps. Boys.
Sidebar: Kiddo learned to blow bubbles himself yesterday and it was adorable.
Wore: My swimming costume. I’m all healed again for the time being so I was straight in the water with Jenson for his swimming lesson yesterday. He did such a good job. The kid wants to swim the entire time, arms and legs going like god knows what. #proud
And lastly: If you’re a regular reader of this blog you will have already spotted this week’s giveaway. If this is the first time you’ve stopped by for a few days, be sure to enter my Christmas giveaway, where you could win over £200 worth of goodies! Be quick – it closes on Sunday at midnight.
Have a lovely weekend. The weather is looking a bit naff so we might try a soft play sesh. And Jenson has his flu vaccination tomorrow. Fortunately no needles – yay!
