A few weeks ago I headed over to the Tremenheere Kitchen for the first time. Yes, I’ve lived in Penzance for nearly all of my 30 years on this planet and had never been to the Sculpture Gardens or this incredible restaurant. Well, that certainly won’t be the last time I visit.
I’ll be honest, the main reason I went along was because my mum said there’s a big hill she wanted to roly poly down with Jenson! The ground was a bit damp so we had to make do with a roast and a wander – a brilliant compromise. I think it might actually be the best roast dinner I’ve ever had. I had the Cornish pork shoulder with apricot and sage stuffing, apple sauce, crackling, carrot puree, roast potatoes, seasonal veg and thyme gravy. You get a lot of food for £12.50. I also had a cheeky glass of rose. Yum.
It really was a lovely afternoon, in that beautiful window between late summer and early autumn. I loved having the opportunity to eat outside and enjoy the surroundings. It’s a dog friendly venue too, so Jenson made some new friends.
Can you believe that view? Penzance really is a stunner at times.
It’s such an Instagrammable place. Need some new succulents? There’s a nursery on site which must be visited.
I didn’t get a chance to walk around the Sculpture Gardens themselves but will definitely be stopping by when they re-open in February. The Kitchen is open all year round, so do stop by if you get a chance.
