I hate to be that person but I swear that was the worst Christmas week I’ve ever had; I’d never felt so poorly before and I was so disappointed as I’d been excited for my Christmas break with Jenson. I met up with a friend just before Christmas and we both said how much we’d just love a day off, to do nothing, just lie in bed and watch telly. Be careful what you wish for!
As a result, I’ve got so many ‘year end’ things to catch up on, including backdating a whole load of blog posts which I’d planned to post during December, before I get to my new year goals and bullet journal set up. There’s a load of other things I’d planned to do throughout my time off, which I’m hoping to squeeze in during these last few days off, including cinema trips, taking Jenson swimming, and indulging in a bath or two.
But enough moaning, this little blog series is about celebrating the good stuff. Here’s a look at what we got up to over the last couple of weeks.
Forest School
I took Jenson to Forest School for the first time and it was a big hit. I’ve been looking for something for us to do together now that we don’t have our weekly swimming lessons and this looks like a fantastic alternative. He loves playing outside, whatever the weather, and it always has a positive effect on my mental wellbeing. We made Christmas decorations, baked biscuits over the fire, had hot chocolate… yet his favourite thing was the mud kitchen! We really need to move somewhere with an actual garden.
Feeling festive
I flipping loved my Secret Santa present – bonus, Jenson seems to like Elf.
Speaking of Jenson, look at this flippin’ adorable Christmas card he made at school.
I’ve been getting a bit crafty myself this Christmas and had a go at stamping my own paper and lettering my own tags. We’ll see if I have the patience to do it again next year!
My mum wins the prize for cutest paper though.
Spring is coming
Yes, I know we’re still in the middle of winter, but the blossoms are coming out, so spring is totally on the way.
Bookstagram made my buy it
I love that Instagram encourages me to try books outside my comfort zone. I’m usually quite dismissive of books with any kind of fantasy element but I had to order a copy of The Binding after seeing so many great things on Instagram. Plus look how pretty!
I hope you had a lovely Christmas and have a great week.

Aww no! There have been some rotten illnesses doing the round this Christmas, everyone I know has been ill!
Forest School looks like the best fun, such an adventure.
I have seen The Binding everywhere, I hope you enjoy it!
