Rowan Berry Box launches tomorrow! [sponsored]

Ad – sponsored. This post is part of Under the Rowan Trees’ sponsorship of my 2020 National Stationery Week campaign

You should all be familiar with Under the Rowan Trees by now: home of bullet journal supplies, lettering tools, and anything else a stationery addict could dream of, it’s a genuine nerd-vana.

Under the Rowan Trees

Founder Danielle recently re-branded and tomorrow sees the launch of the new Rowan Berry Box. Imagine her previous stationery subscription box but even more epic and you’re partway there. I caught up with her to find out more.

Hi Danielle! How goes the launch prep?

Gosh, It’s been crazy! I feel like I’ve not stopped for weeks but you all know I love it! I think this is the most I’ve taken on in one go; organising the launch party, planning the new Rowan Berry Box, and working with a web developer, designer, copywriter, and photographer to get everything on brand and as wonderful as my customers deserve.

I’m excited to part of the big day. What else can your followers look forward to?

I’m ridiculously excited and so chuffed that so many wonderful people have agreed to be involved. You have a calligraphy tutorial from Inkspire, a doodle along with Snail Scribbles, cut along with KP Papercuts, bujo session with Stationery Magpie, and a guest blog post from Blink Lettering to look forward to, as well as lots of competitions and giveaways, including a prize bundle from Royal Talens.

I love how collaborative the indie stationery community is. How do you plan to tie this into future boxes and shop developments?

I’m planning to work with designers and artists more closely to create exclusive products for the Rowan Berry Box and the shop. I want to bring you all items that you can’t get anywhere else.

Small businesses and bloggers are an essential part of what I do. I love finding new products and working with them to choose the best possible items to bring to Under the Rowan Trees. I want to work with more Instagrammers, YouTubers, and bloggers to ensure that we can learn how to unlock our creativity using the amazing range of stationery I stock.

Under the Rowan Trees has grown so much since the initial launch in 2014. What have been some of your highlights?

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind! The last 18 months have seen massive changes. Attending the Stationery Show in London during April 2019 was a long way out of my comfort zone but enabled me to meet, and build relationships with, lots of suppliers, which led to brands like Zebra, Royal Talens, and Kaweco joining me at Under the Rowan Trees.

I’m incredibly proud of many aspects of my business but the advent calendars have been hugely popular over the last two years. This year I’m making some changes to make it more manageable for me (rather than taking over my home and my life for two months) but it’s going to be even better than ever!

After four years of working from my dining table, I was able to move out of my house and into my own purpose-built office at the bottom of my Northumberland garden at the start of April. It really has been both life and business changing!

What was the turning point and inspiration for the re-design and the new box?

After three years, I realised I was never going to come up with a name I loved all by myself. I turned to the professionals and worked with a designer and copywriter to come up with the new logo and the text you will find on the new website. It was a big investment, but after starting to work with a professional photographer last year, I’ve realised that I can’t possibly juggle everything myself, and that sometimes I need to bring in help to create my vision.

What can fellow stationery addicts expect from this new subscription?

In terms of the products and themes, you won’t notice massive changes, but everything has been levelled up! I don’t want to spoil the surprise but as soon as you see the photos you will know what I mean. Everything has been DIY for a long time but now I’m investing in outside help to make things that little bit more special.

You’ve added some fantastic products to your stock lately. Can you reveal any sneak peeks of what might be coming soon?

Have you seen the new Acrylograph pens from Archer and Olive? I’m a huge fan of Bonnie’s notebooks and when I was asked if I’d like to stock her new pens I jumped at the chance. There is nothing else like them on the market. They will be arriving at some point in July and I can’t wait to try them!

  1. I am really excited about the launch and will definitely be putting in an order for Acrylograph pens. I love collaborations and this is such a huge way to support the arts & crafts community.
