These posts are getting few and far between; I really must make an effort to catch up with you more! It’s been two months since I last wrote one of these posts. When I went back through my camera roll to remind myself what I’ve been up to it genuinely made me smile – and temporarily helped shift the funk I’ve been in the last few days. More of this please!
Finding new ways to get creative
Autumn really does set my soul on fire; it’s when I’m at my most creative. And I seem to have kicked it up a notch this year! This is thanks, in large part, to Little Paper Swan‘s #AutumnHashtagChallenge. It encouraged me to venture outside my comfort zone with my content and I found myself inspired to try new things, such as seasonal watercolour doodles, making my own bunting, and alternative treats for Halloween.

Seeing Jenson thrive at school
I’m so bloody proud of how well Jenson is settling into year one. We had his parents’ evening chat over the phone just before half term and his teacher had so many wonderful things to say about him, including that he’s in the top group for phonics. I manage to squeeze in one school run a week and it’s great to see him so happy walking into school and see his teachers genuinely look pleased to see him. He’s a bit of a cutie.

An actual day off!
I haven’t been into the office since March and, while it’s much more convenient for me to work from home, it means I get zero downtime – I’m either working or parenting. I had some TOIL to take the other day and had an entire day off. I made sure I booked it for a school day so I could have a guilt-free Jenson break and treated myself to a lie in, breakfast in bed, and a trip to Newlyn Art Gallery with my dad, before picking Jenson up from school. A whole six hours work and child free! I’m looking forward to having another day off in a couple of weeks for my birthday, although activities will be somewhat limited as it falls in the last week of lockdown. I’ll certainly enjoy the quiet though!

Eating/drinking out
We did manage to venture out to some of our favourite places when cafes were allowed to be open. My favourite lunch is the maple bacon, brie and ‘slaw fries at Mermaid Alley – washed down with a freakshake of course! And I had a cheeky cocktail at The Front Room the other day too. I miss these places already!

Wearing is caring
The lovely team at Blippo sent me some of their kawaii face masks to try. I’ve been wearing the usual disposable ones for months and these ones are so much more fun. You can get yours here.

Squirrels
Feeding the squirrels is genuinely one of my favourite things to do – I think I’m (going to become) a crazy squirrel lady… I talk to them a bit too. But I’m never alone so that’s less weird, right? I think we’re becoming friends because there are a couple who always run up to me and Jenson when they spot us.

Christmas is coming!
47 sleeps til Christmas! I don’t normally start celebrating until after my birthday (27 November, just FYI!) but, y’know, it’s a weird ol’ year and you can’t have too much joy at the moment. I treated myself to a cheeky Costa just for the cup/photo opp the other day and have started stocking up on my flatlay props – kudos to Sainsburys for these beauties! I think I’m gonna have to get the tree and festive bedding out over the next week as my 12 Days of Christmas giveaways goodies have started arriving and I always underestimate how long it will take me to create the content.

What have you been up to lately? How’s the latest lockdown treating you?
