After the success of the first #LettersInMyStyle challenge, I decided to branch out a bit and start a #JournalInMyStyle challenge too. One of the things I’m particularly proud of when it comes to #LettersInMyStyle was that it became a place for people of all abilities to come together to feel inspired and support each other. I wanted to do the same for bullet journaling as I believe that a lot of people would really benefit from this style of journaling but often feel put off by what they see on social media.
Bullet journaling doesn’t have to be flamboyant – unless that’s your thang. Of course, visuals often help, but you don’t need to be a pro illustrator or fine artist to create impactful and productive spreads. Or perhaps you’d like something a bit more than minimal but can’t quite create what’s in your head…? Enter Oops a Daisy.
Oops a Daisy is the place for bullet journal enthusiasts, with stencils, washi, stickers, and print-outs galore. Bullet journalists (journalers?) caneasily customise their spreads to their hearts’ content in just a few minutes – perfect for people (myself included) who often spend hours setting up their spreads and then don’t have time to actually complete them!
For the first challenge I wanted to keep the prompts quite simple in the hope of encouraging people to take part whatever their experience level and set-up preferences. The intro post also featured some of my old spreads so that newbies could see the potential and feel inspired to join in, without feeling intimidated.

Here’s a look at my posts for the week, including links to the products I featured.

For my April cover page, I used the Zebra mildliners which featured heavily in the #LettersInMyStyle challenge (thanks, Under the Rowan Trees!), a black Gelly Roll for the outline, the spring showers stencil for the umbrella and the hot air balloon stencil for the clouds.

I flipping love the super easy monthly spread stencil. It only takes a couple of minutes to set up and you can easily add some flourishes if you have a monthly theme. I used the Mildliners and Gelly Roll again, plus the banners and bunting stencil for my header.

I kept my weekly spreads pretty minimal too, again with the Mildliners and Gelly Roll. This time I used the MVP stencil for my dated flags and re-used the spring showers stencil for my kite.

My dailies are pretty straightforward too – again with the same pens. I went back to the banners and bunting stencil for my header and, fun fact, the edges of the stencils are great for straight lines!

My mood trackers tend to the most decorative of my spreads – I see it as an incentive to remember to use it every day, as it’s so satisfying when it’s complete. I used a black Stabilo brush pen to letter my header, along with the usual suspects. The spring showers stencil came in handy again, as I used the wellies. The clouds were created using the hot air balloom stencil again, I used the circle/monthly tracker stencil for the rainbow, and added some super stripes washi too. Did you know Oops a Daisy design their own washi tape?

I added some additional spreads for the favourites prompt. I love a gratitude spread and used the gratitude sunburst stencil. I’m also a massive data nerd so have an Instagram tracker as @ACornishGeekLetters is still quite a new account – I used the polaroid stencil for that. I also like to feature hand lettered quotes throughout my journal. For this page I used Sakura Koi brush pens, spring washi from the latest subscription box, plus the plant stencil for the flowers.

For the last day of the challenge, I wanted to share my essential supplies. It doesn’t take a lot for me really. My go-to journal is the Rhodia Goalbook and I love using Black Gelly Rolls. My favourite decorative pens at the moment are the Zebra mildliners, and the shaped circle tracker stencil comes in handy for all sorts of things.
The challenge was sponsored by Oops a Daisy and participants were rewarded with 15% off plus entry into a giveaway to win three mini boxes. Thanks so much to everyone who joined in. I loved seeing all of your posts and I hope you found some new accounts to follow.

If you’d like to take part in the next challenge, I’ll be hosting these the first week of every month and the prompts will be posted over on @ACornishGeekLetters a few days before.
