I’ve written before about how lettering helped me through lockdown, why I started @ACornishGeekLetters, and what a big help Blink Lettering has been as I’ve developed my lettering skills. And now that I’ve started getting to grips with digital lettering, Milly’s drills are still just as important.
For the longest time, I was somewhat snobby about digital lettering. I thought it was a completely different art form to pen and paper and it couldn’t possibly be as impactful in terms of creative mindfulness. I’m pleased to report that I was wrong and I’ve had so much fun learning different tips and tricks over the last couple of months. Of course, I still struggle with those pesky ovals, but practice makes progress and I’ve downloaded Milly’s drill sheets to my iPad for regular practice.
I’m so excited to see that Milly has updated her resources for 2021; you can sign up for her new six-week course for a bargain £55! I’m determined to nail my a, d, and g! If you’re new to hand lettering, whether it’s with paper or tablet, I can’t recommend these resources enough.
I’ve also started following Every Tuesday and completed the Procreate for Beginners course. I found it so helpful; it really is the perfect resource for anyone just getting started with digital lettering. Take a look at some of the fun things I’ve produced:

I’m really proud of how far I’ve come already and can’t wait to show you more when I launch my Etsy store in a few weeks. The main reason I wanted to have a play with digital lettering was to see if I could digitise my work and start creating my own products. More info coming soon!
