Pencils are so under-rated. Although you rarely see them in the end result of my creative projects, the reality is they feature heavily.
I always sketch everything out first and test colours before committing to a final design.
Even when I’ve decided what I’m doing with a piece, it’s best to start with pencil, particularly when it comes to alignment and spacing of lettering.
I’m obsessed with the aesthetics of autumn and have recently taken to mindful colouring. STAEDTLER’s pack of 36 colouring pencils features a great range of shades. Johanna Basford’s How to Draw Inky Wonderlands is a stunning book and the forest section has proved useful for my evening doodles, as well as grabbing those quiet moments for a spot of colouring.
