It’s not very often that I read a book and immediately want to share it with the world. I bought a copy of The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared because everyone was talking about it and it was being made into a film, so I was intrigued. I didn’t know anything about it other than what the title gives away and I was surprised by the twists and turns it went on.
If you read the synopsis of Jonas Jonasson’s book on Amazon, it doesn’t necessarily spoil anything for you but I think I got a lot more enjoyment out of it having heard or read nothing about it beforehand. So let me just tell you this: It’s about an old man who, on his 100th birthday, climbs out of the window of a nursing home right before his big party and disappears. You don’t need to know anything else, other than that this book tells the man’s life story, including the adventure which began when he thought his life was over. It just goes to show – life is what you make it.
