One of the worst things about not having internet access for the last TEN DAYS (!) was that I couldn’t post a pregnancy update last week – sad I know. So here’s my 32 week picture from last week – taken in my new bathroom! It’s the only mirror in the house at the moment…
Being that rotund does have its perks – I didn’t have to lift a finger during the move. Which sounds great but on the other hand I felt incredibly guilty watching everyone else do all the work. And even though I was barely on my feet (although arguably probably more than I should have been), I ended up with a super-swollen and painful foot the next day. I have no idea what I did to it but I ended up in A&E because it was so sore. Turns out it could be nothing – or a stress fracture. Thanks, baby! I’m giving it a couple more days before I go back because it doesn’t actually feel too bad when I get a chance to rest it. Now that I’m back at work after a semi-blissful seven days off (I got too used to it!), I’m finding it aches a bit more, so I’ll see how I get on.
Now for the 33 week bump update, complete with PJs. What can I say, I just wanted to get home from work and ditch the jeans and bra!
I read on the Baby Centre app that the baby will put on more than half his birth weight between 32 and 40 weeks. It’s difficult enough lugging him around at the moment – although I saw the physio about my pelvic dysfunction last week and she gave me a tubi-grip thing which really helps take the weight off when I’m trying to waddle through town. And she’s due a week after me – small world.
But here’s the highlight of last week – my baby shower! My family went all out, decorating the parentals’ house and cooking up a storm (the baby really appreciated the quiche and cheese and pineapple on sticks!). My mum continued my blue elephant theme with paper plates, plastic cups and banners through the house – cute!
And she ordered such a lovely cake! Look at the edible stork and baby – which I couldn’t actually bring myself to eat.
And I got to wear a super-classy Mum To Be sash – loads of these little bits will be going into a memory box to look back on in years to come.
Everyone was so lovely taking the time to pop over to say hi and bring adorable presents. Two of the girls I met at pregnancy yoga/antenatal classes dropped in and it’ll be great to keep in touch with them when our babies make their appearances.
I snapped some pics of some of the huge amount of presents – we’ve got so many adorable blankets to keep the little ‘un warm and snug and my mum reckons I won’t have to do any laundry for a month!
Nappy cakes are just the best! The Eeyore cake was from the boyfriend’s parents and the elephant one was from friends of my parents. Handy and adorable!
The tractor t-shirt is one of my faves, as my grandad used to drive a red tractor (expect to see more things like that as he grows up!) and I’m looking forward to using the awesome play gym from my parents.
Now I’ve just gotta sit back and wait for him to arrive! Oh, wait, we still have his room to do… Since we moved, most of the stuff for storage is dumped in his room until we get a chance to put it in the attic and we need to get everything in there and put together. No biggie! I’ll be sharing pics once the house in a more presentable state! It’s live-in-able but some things still need a bit of sprucing up. Won’t be long!
And here’s a little video from when he had the hiccups last week!
