Man, it’s been a long week. I’m always super-tired on Thursdays (when I come to schedule these posts) because I’ve just finished my working week and taken Jenson to his swimming lesson, which I swear is more tiring for me than it is for him. I’ve done some over-time this week and we also ran around the park in the afternoon, so I’m especially tired. I’d like the chance for a lie-in but I want to take Jenson to gymnastics as he’s not been in weeks – what is it with playgroups always being in the mornings?! I’ll be taking every opportunity for an early night over the weekend but I’m hooked on 13 Reasons Why so I don’t know how well that will go… Here’s what else I’ve been loving this week.
Read: Gwennan’s post, The Booby Trap and We Are Still Tornadoes. Yep, three things this week! I wanna shout out to Gwennan again for her lovely words about this here blog. I’m one of her advertisers this month and she was just such a sweetie in her advertisers post.
On the bus this week I finished The Booby Trap, a hilarious and heart-warming collection of essays and short stories by celebrities about their relationships with boobs – edited by the ever-fabulous Dawn O’Porter, with proceeds going to charity. I picked it up in Poundland of all places; keep an eye out for it cos it’s worth a read.
I also read We Are Still Tornadoes by Michael Kun and Susan Mullen. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t have read it if it hadn’t have arrived in a competition bundle but I really enjoyed it. It’s kinda like Where Rainbows End meets Lobsters, a story about two childhood friends told through letters, co-written by a man and woman. It was predictable but an easy and enjoyable read – I really warmed to the characters and could totally hear the 80s soundtrack. Come to think of it, it would work so well as an audiobook with a soundtrack. That’s a bleddy brilliant idea if I may say so myself. I wonder if that’ll start being a thing…
Watched: 13 Reasons Why. Yep, I jumped on the bandwagon. I’ve been meaning to read the book for a while but wanted to know what everyone was talking about so I caved and started on the series. I’m only two and a half episodes in (definitely not appropriate viewing with Jenson!) but I’m hooked.
Heard: Skyfall. Adele’s Bond theme song came on at work the other day and it immediately reminded me of the film and how it’s my favourite Bond film. I really want to watch it again now.
Made: Personalised life planner. Half of my National Stationery Week prizes have arrived now and the Life Planner from Unique Planners is one of them. I was sent a voucher to order my own personalised planner and this is what I picked – ain’t she a beauty?! I’ll be posting a full review soon.
Wore: Jenson wore aged 2-3 PJs. He’s still in 18-24 months clothes (some 12-18 months bottoms) but we put him in 2-3 years PJs the other night (laundry issues!) and they actually fit! Soon it’ll be time to say goodbye to baby clothes.
And lastly: It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and I want to take every available opportunity to give it a mention. Please do what you can to support people you know who are struggling and, if you’re struggling yourself, please speak up and ask for help. I’ve linked up some great resources here.
I hope you all have a fab weekend :)
