The Sun Is Also A Star, family time and Cornish weather #LittleLoves

I almost skipped Little Loves this week because when I came to draft the post I thought it wasn’t very exciting. Then I remembered that blogging isn’t just about the good times; life can be mundane at times and we shouldn’t feel the need to hide it or embellish. So here’s my rather average week!

Read: I finished Just Friends and read The Sun Is Also A Star – both part of giveaway bundles. Just Friends is a perfectly pleasant but predictable young adult romance between two high school friends. The Sun Is Also A Star snuck up on me. I didn’t know much about it, other than that it’s written by Nicola Yoon, best-selling author of Everything, Everything, which I’m yet to read. Another young adult romance, it has a lot of depth to it and I found it really moving. I’m a believer that everyone has a story and I love that the minor characters who popped up had a little back story and resolution. I also liked the history and science, explaining about the characters’ Korean and Jamaican heritage, as well as theories about fate and destiny. Highly recommended.

Watched: No time for Netflix this week! Yesterday, however, I watched Jenson playing with cousin, Logan. He’s a year and two days older and it’s sweet to see how much he wants to look after him as he grows older. We went to my mum’s after swimming yesterday and it was so cute to see Logan trying to teach Jenson how to play games that are a bit too big for him; I love that he wants to include him. Jenson also said Logan for the first time!

Heard: Jenson also had a bit of an accident yesterday and ended up with a black eye when he fell face down on laminate flooring. To say he broke his heart (and mine) would be an understatement. He’s doing better today but he’s got a helluva shiner.

I obviously wouldn’t share such an unfortunate photo of my child online so here’s a cute picture of Jenson which Luke took a couple of months ago and I’ve recently saved.

Made: We sent a very important document to print at work yesterday which underwent multiple last minute revisions, so it was a relief to get a message earlier saying that it had arrived in the office and looks awesome.

Wore: I’ve had the coat and boots back on a lot this week, bleddy Cornish weather. I arrived at work one day with soaking feet and when I took spares to work the next day it was fine. Sod’s law.

And lastly: As you can probably tell from this post I’ve been super-busy at work (one more week to go!) and I’ve gone to bed every night with Jenson as he’s not been feeling too great. Tonight though I finally get a few hours to myself – as long as he stays settled in his own bed for a while. Then I’ve only got one more crazy week at work before annual leave (and Jenson’s birthday!), then I’m back in for a week before another week off for Luke’s birthday. Fingers crossed for lovely weather.

Have a great weekend!

  1. I’m so pleased that you decided to write and publish this little loves post in spite of your current reservations. It sounds like you’ve been having a really busy time at work lately, bet you can’t wait for annual leave next week!
Poor Jenson getting a black eye, it’s so horrible when our kids get hurt isn’t it? It’s like we feel it too. Hope it heals super quick.
