Harry Potter, Black Panther and More or Less #LittleLoves

Yesterday was a good day. I had a free coffee on my loyalty card, a free cinema ticket on my Movie Magic card and my neighbour gave away a box of comics to ‘nice nerds’! For the comic book geeks reading, I’ll share some pics in a post in the next week or so but you might still be able to catch a peek on my Stories. Here’s the rest of what I’ve loved this week.

Read: I finally started reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone! And I’m loving it. I didn’t finish it before the end of my working week so I’m going to have to make some time for it.

Watched: So far we’re averaging a film a month at the cinema this year – go us! Much better than last year. Yesterday we went to a lunchtime screening of Black Panther and had the whole screen to ourselves. Bleddy good film by the way – one of my favourite comic book films to date.

Thursdays are the best days for us to get a babysitter and they do regular Thursday matinees, so hopefully there will be more cinema trips this year. Next: Ready Player One.

Heard: A friend recommended a recent edition of More or Less to me as there was a chap (Ben Blatt) on who was chatting about the use of pronouns in literature, particularly how ‘she’ is used a total of once in The Hobbit and the types of verbs which follow male and female pronouns in books written by men and women. There’s more in another podcast and I’m definitely going to check out his book: Nabokov’s Favourite Word Is Mauve: The literary quirks and oddities of our most-loved authors.

Wore: I treated myself to a load of socks in the New Look sale – I know, crazy right? I love how sassy these ones are though.

Made: I signed up to Jocelyn’s latest stationery swap and finally got round to putting together my package last night. It’ll be winging its way to its recipient soon. I’m looking forward to seeing what I get in return.

And lastly: It’s my surgery date on Monday – well, I hope so. I already had it pushed back six weeks because I had a cough last time but I’m feeling good (touch wood!). I’ve had to arrange for a few weeks’ leave from the day job to recover and I’ve scheduled in a bunch of blog posts to allow myself a good couple of weeks to take it easy. There are a couple of giveaways planned so don’t be a stranger. I’ll be on the ol’ social media though so I’ll be in touch soon.
