It’s been a couple of weeks since we caught up like this, as I dedicated the whole of last week to my love of books. I’ve still got a giveaway running for a couple more days, so click here if you want to be in with a chance of winning some Fable & Black goodies.
I’m definitely feeling the books and blankets vibes at the moment.
Jenson and I have been battling colds for the last week, so we haven’t really been up for doing much. Last weekend we stayed home and baked. Well, attempted to anyway. Turns out recipes are there for a reason and you really shouldn’t substitute ingredients, especially when you don’t know what you’re doing. He was pretty happy with the final results though.
Oh, speaking of Jenson, we went to look at a couple of schools the other day. Pre-visits, we had three schools on our list: one around the corner, one just up from nursery and one within walking distance but a bit of a stretch (we have an emotional attachment to it as it’s my primary school and my oldest nephew goes there). I figured everyone must have to meet the same standard and so they shouldn’t be that different. Boy, was I wrong! The first one we looked at was incredible! We had a half-hour tour with the Head of Curriculum who was so clued up and answered all of our questions, Jenson seemed at home and even I wanted to move in. Then we saw our second and couldn’t believe the difference – a five minute whip around with someone who works on their reception desk and the classrooms and play areas were so different. We’re not looking at the other one for a few weeks but I have a feeling we’ll have all of our fingers and toes crossed that we get in to the first one.
Remember my Matilda review from a couple of weeks ago? I only went and won another edition! Gotta love Twitter giveaways. Now I just need to ask Santa for the librarian edition…
I’m also incredibly grateful for awesome friends. Jenson and I caught up with his Uncle John yesterday and were treated to milkshakes and sundaes. We love you, Uncle John! <3
I wonder what delights the next week will bring. I had some blogger mail arrive water damaged the other day, so keep an eye on my Stories for some shiny new editions when the replacements arrive. I’m also hoping the weather eases for a trip to the pumpkin patch. Jenson is so into Halloween and Christmas this year (yes, already!).
