Bullet journal review: The Go-To Notebook with Mohawk paper

I’ve reviewed over a dozen different bullet journals. As a self-confessed stationery nerd, I know how important it is to find the right journal for you. Whether your deal breaker is price, page numbers, gsm or sustainability, I pride myself on being able to direct you to the perfect brand.

One of my favourite things about being a stationery blogger is being invited to review new products; you never know when a new journal might come along and be a total game changer. So when I spotted the Go-To Notebook with Mohawk paper in Abrams + Chronicle’s Spring catalogue, I knew I had to give it a whirl.

Features include lay-flat binding, a ribbon marker, pocket on the inside back cover, page numbers and a built-in contents (three pages).

There are 192 pages, plus 27 project-planning pages. As I use my bujo primarily for my blog and goal setting/tracking, rather than as an all-round life planner, these project pages will come in very handy. I do prefer a built-in future log, so these pages could be re-purposed as a month to a page. There’s a lot of flexibility here.

The dots on the non-project pages are blue rather than grey, which is something that I’m not used to (and it does draw attention to them more than I’d usually like), but it makes for a nice colour scheme, matching the colour of the page numbers and complementing the sage blue cover.

Boasting a ‘smart design’ and ‘superfine quality’, I knew I had to try the acid-free Mohawk paper. The packaging claims it’s ‘the finest paper made today’, so let’s put it to the ol’ pen test.

My favourite pens to use are the Stabilo Sensor for day-to-day writing, the Stabilo Pen 68 for colour accents and the Kirarich glitter highlighters for a bit of sparkle. I’m also really into the Spectrum Noir metallic pens at the moment, as I’m trying to learn brush lettering.

As you can see, there is some ghosting, but it’s only particularly significant with the Spectrum Noirs, which I’d only use for title pages. There is a teeny bit of bleeding with the glitter highlighters, but this seems to happen regardless of notebook when I don’t lift the pen off the page quickly enough at the end of a stroke. All in all, pretty good 104gsm paper.
