The lovely chaps at Pentel were kind enough to sponsor my August #JournalInMyStyle challenge. This meant I had a brand new stash of pens to play with and I was also able to offer participants a whopping seven days of giveaways.
I have a few key prompts which feature in every journaling challenge. One is the monthly cover page. I avoided themed spreads for a long time but now I like to use a consistent style each month. For August I went with an ocean theme and kept my cover page pretty minimal, letting the dual metallic brush pen speak for itself.
Even though I also run a monthly lettering challenge, I like to include a quote in the journaling challenge too. I normally use brush pens for my quotes but used a Pointliner for this one, showcasing the dual metallic again.
I don’t always use traditional monthly and weekly spreads – it depends on the time of year and what I have on. When I do, I tend to keep them pretty minimal. Here I used the trusty Pointliner again, as well as some highlighters. I also couldn’t resist adding another quote and used the old reliable brush sign pens.
For my tracker, I decided to go with an alternative water tracker. Most people look at their water intake in an attempt to stay hydrated; I focused on water being good for the soul, particularly salt water. There are some great brush sign colours and I used another dual metallic for the tracker headers. Oh, and a Pointliner. I love the 0.3mm.
I also kept my gratitude page minimal with a brush sign pen and highlighters.
And, last but not least, one of my favourite regulars: the self-care bingo. I normally make these a 4×4 grid but got carried away and drew out a 5×5 – then wrote bath twice. Maybe my sub-conscious was trying to tell me something. I teamed up the brush sign, dual metallic, and Pointliner for this one.
It was an absolute joy to be able to offer so many prizes and I loved seeing them arrive on everyone’s Stories.
Get ready for the next challenge coming 1-7 September. In the meantime, happy journaling 🙂
