Between tracking reviews of books I’ve already left, tackling my growing TBR shelf and prioritising books on my never-ending wish list, my bullet journal comes in pretty handy. Sure, I have my Goodreads app and Amazon wish list but it’s so nice to have everything in one place. And colour-coded!
I use my bullet journal for three main reasons when it comes to my reading:
1. Goodreads Reading challenge
I list every book I’ve read this year and highlight the ones I’ve been sent for review purposes. Seeing an increasing sea of purple reminds me when I need to get back to reading just for me. Books I’ve read this year solely for the love of reading include The BFG by Roald Dahl, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by JK Rowling and One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus.
2. My TBR
I’ve listed nearly every unread in my bookcase as a reminder to read these before buying even more. I say nearly all of them because some charity shop finds have been sat there untouched for years, making them less of a priority. I need to read a romantic book for this month’s Blogger Book Nook, which sounds like a good reason to finally read Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella. I think the only other title on that shelf which could possibly work is Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli but that’ll have to wait a while longer.
3. My wish list
I swear I see another book I want to read every day thanks to my social media and blogging addiction. I’m going through a bit of a girl power kick at the moment and want to read all of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie‘s back catalogue, as well as Laura Bates’. If I could pick just three new books at the moment though it would be How Do You Like Me Now by Holly Bourne, The Multi-Hyphen Method by Emma Gannon and Nora Ephron’s Heartburn by Virago Modern Classics. So many books, so little time.

I must start doing this! Although I am filled with good intentions I never seem to get round to using the 100’s (ok, maybe 15) of journals I have :/
Tell me about it! That’s why I don’t do weekly or monthly spreads and track reading and goals instead. Then I don’t feel so bad if I miss a week or so.
Why didn’t I think of this?? I have one million books in my Goodreads that I have marked as “Want To Read”, but then I promptly forget about them. Also, I need a better system of making notes for book reviews that I do—I’ve got pieces of paper everywhere!
Glad you’re inspired 🙂 Good luck with it 🙂
I use Goodreads and color code my Google calendar
I LOVE my bullet journal. It’s perfect to track tours I’ve signed up for, my reading challenge for the year, and review notes while I’m reading. This post is fantastic!
Ahhh thanks so much ❤
You are better than I. I am such a mood reader. I have yet to make it through a TBR I’ve set up for myself.
I write notes in pads but keep track of my posting commitments via the diary on outlook and my TBR on Goodreads. I colour code when to post a review on blog and when to crosspost.
Bleddy love colour coding 🤓
Wow so detailed! I just use Goodreads to track everything!
I wish I could get on board with the bullet journal trend and I find myself insanely jealous of everyone who can manage it. Mine just end up a big mess of arrows, scribbles and white out.
I know the feeling. I’m so envious of the really stunning ones.
I love this! I use mine to track my goodreads goal and then my monthly reads as well as a bingo sheet that makes me pick older books. I really need to do something about the TBR though lol.
Ooh the bingo sheet sounds fun.
I definitely need to start doing something like this! I read everyday but it’s so scattered, sometimes it’s ten pages sometimes it’s one hundred. It would be nice to get more routine with it.
I have heard so many great things about bullet journaling. 🙂
I find it surprisingly relaxing when I remember to do it.
