Our memories are quite often tied to our senses – hearing songs which were popular during key periods of our lives, the smell of the perfume our mum used to wear when we were young – but, for me, stationery can be just as powerful. Back in September I got all nostalgic and wrote about my love of glitter gels pens but when Stationery & Art sent me some new pens to review, it took me back in a different way.

This pack of five Kikkerland retro ballpoint pens reminded me of the pens my dad always had in the house. We had this sort of junk shelf in one of the kitchen cupboards, and you could guarantee that you’d always find one of these pens there, waiting for a pen emergency. He tended to have a navy one but I quite like these different colour combinations.

All of the pens come with black ink and are smooth to write with.

They’re also available in different colour combinations in packs of three. I’m quite fond of these.

Are there any stationery products which remind you of a loved one?
