It’s true what they say: time flies. I’ve been on maternity leave for two months and Jenson is now a whole month old! It’s so unfair that nine months of pregnancy drags so much that it almost feels like it’s never going to end, yet maternity leave is over in a flash. I just keep reminding myself that I’ve got the whole summer, autumn and most of the winter to spend with this gorgeous guy yet. Then it’s back to the real world.
He has developed so much since my three weeks update ten days ago. He’s still pretty much just eating, sleeping and pooping but while he’s awake (and not screaming for more milk!) he’s even more fun to be around. He’s smiling more and starting to interact with different things. He’s still not very interested in his toys but he’s started paying attention to the tractor above his moses basket and when we put him in his bouncer for the first time he loved the elephants (but of course!).

And, finally, after ear-piercing screams the first two times, Jenson loves bath time! It’s such a relief to know that he doesn’t hate water after all, as we’re going to start baby swimming classes in a few weeks – fun!
I’ve got a development of my own too – last week I went on my first mum date! I met some lovely ladies during pregnancy yoga and the antenatal classes and me and Jenson went for a coffee date with one last week. It was my first time out of the house with Jenson on my own and it felt weird but amazing. It was also great to be able to talk to another mum about what the last few weeks have been like.
We also went to our first baby group this morning. It has been a couple of weeks since he was last weighed and I was curious to see how much he had grown as a lot of baby clothes sizes have weights on them as well as ages. He is wearing 0-3 months instead of newborn clothes now. I wonder if he’ll be on 3-6 months clothes ‘early’… He’s already weighing 11 lb 11.5 oz!
Before our two month update we’ll be going for our eight-week checkup, complete with first vaccinations for Jenson. Uh-oh! See you on the other side!
