It’s been a funny ol’ week – the best laid plans and all that… Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to.
Read: The Happy Newspaper. *Sigh* I swoon over this every time it drops through my letterbox but I swear the current issue is the best to date. Gabrielle Treanor is my favourite contributor and the designs are just incredible. I’ll be giving it a full review in this week’s Self-Care Sunday post, so pop back then for more info and cute pics.
I’ve also had a couple of books arrive in the post this week which I can’t wait to read: the latest volume of Ms Marvel (delivery was delayed by a few weeks by Amazon again) and 200 Women, which is even more stunning in real life. I’ll have a full review up once I’ve devoured every story.
For those of you who showed an interest in my review of Get your Shit Together last week, you can check it out here.
Watched: Just the usual – Neighbours, the new series of Will & Grace, Grey’s Anatomy (I’m halfway through season four) and Trolls about 100 times.

Listening to Zooey Deschanel on the soundtrack just reminds me how much I miss her music, which leads me to…
Heard: She & Him. I requested Volume One at work the other day and remembered how much I freaking love her. I really need to catch up on New Girl too.

Wore: A surgical gown. For all of half an hour. I was literally about to head down to theatre when the anesthetist said it wasn’t worth the risk with my cough. I had a bit of a bark, a temperature and I was still coughing a bit up. I had hoped it would have cleared by now (2-3 weeks for a cough is ridiculous) so now I’ve got to wait 2-4 weeks and try again. I’ll hopefully get a call next week with a new date so I can rearrange work again. It’s so frustrating because I’m an anal planner and this week was perfect timing. At least I get to plan again – lists!!!
Made: A work of art. Well, Jenson did. He loves painting but we didn’t really have any proper paints in the house – until yesterday. My mum picked up a set of four finger paint tubs for a pound (!) in Pound Stretcher and they kept him amused for ages. He doesn’t understand the concept of cleaning brushes between colours so I put a different brush in each pot to help. The paints are great because they’re quite thick – they don’t spill everywhere as soon as you knock them over and they’re super easy to wipe off his hands and jumper. I’m looking out for a sort of painting bib/smock if anyone has any recommendations?
And lastly: I’m expecting a couple of blogger mail deliveries over the next few days and am looking forward to working on those posts. I’ve also tweaked my blog schedule a bit this week. I’m trying to blog five days a week instead of seven so I have time to work on outreach/networking without my stats dropping. I know it’s not all about the numbers but I’d like to keep them up/grow them if I can. I’d also love to join some book blogger communities, so link me up in the comments if you have any suggestions.
Have a lovely weekend š

I really want to read the Sarah Knight book, heard great things about all three of them. Ikea have great painting aprons, Parker has one. Seems like you’re really on it with your blog this year! Enjoy your weekend xx
Ooh ta for the apron tip. My sister-in-law lives near an Ikea š
You have a picasso on your hands right there so fun. Sounds like you had a busy week. I was looking at that book you mentioned on amazon to buy next. Hope you have a great weekend. #littleloves
Ooh yay, I hope you get to read the book soon.
I love the look of Happy News, I think I could do with that in my life! I also need to get my shit together so might have to get that too! Sorry the surgery didn’t go to plan but I’m sure it was the best decision.
Loving Jenson’s artwork, we never bothered with a smock just kept a few old t-shirts on hand. What a shame about your surgery, definitely not worth the risk though. Hope you’ve had a great weekend x #LittleLoves
I have the biggest girl crush on Zooey Deschanel! I first saw her in Almost Famous and have been a fan of her ever since.
Loving the look of the Happy Newspaper, I’ll have to check it out.
Hope you’re having a good week so far x
I love Jensons masterpiece and the sound of the Happy paper. Its not something that I have come across before.
