I never tire of seeing books and stationery aimed at inspiring and empowering women. We went so many years/decades/centuries treating women as second-class citizens, it’s like the world is playing catch up, and I’m so here for it.
The next title to hit the bookshelves is The Illustrated Feminist by Aura Lewis. (published on 25 February). 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote in America and this book highlights that particular landmark, and dozens of others, as well as detailing the lives of iconic women from the last hundred years.
Published alongside this (on 11 February) is a collection of postcards, featuring illustrations from the book, plus a guided journal. What more could a feminist with a stationery addiction ask for?!
I’m a sucker for a guided journal, that much is obvious by now (unless you’re new to this blog, in which case “Hi!”). What I adore about journals from Chronicle Books is how flipping stunning they are, without being a case of style over substance. This journal is packed with list-making prompts, whilst also detailing those previously mentioned key moments and women from the last hundred years.
Each list is paired with an achievement, event or iconic woman, inspiring and empowering the journal’s user to reflect, dream, and take action. Lists encourage you to consider crazy goals, obstacles, and passion projects, as well as celebrating your own successes and hidden talents.

The book of postcards is a fantastic idea —and so beautifully presented. Each one features an illustrated landmark moment with a detailed caption on the back.
There are 50 here. I’m thinking about putting my favourites in a collage frame and keeping others to hand to scribble messages of encouragement to friends in need, as well as pop in happy mail packages for stationery swaps and giveaways.
