We all know studies have shown that creativity can relieve both stress and anxiety. But once you reach a certain age, unless you’re working specifically in the creative arts, chances are you think you’re not creative. Or that you’re not allowed to be. But guess what? We’re all creative and we deserve to be able to make time and space to explore this.
Prioritising creativity can not only help to relieve stress and anxiety, it can help develop emotional intelligence and resilience, increase ability to focus and reflect, and help you to organise your mind and emotions. The average person has 60-80,000 thoughts a day. It’s no wonder we’re overwhelmed when we try to fall asleep at night, still trying to process it all.
I’ve been living with depression and anxiety for several years and I’ve found that allowing time and space for creativity works wonders for my wellbeing. In recent years I’ve dabbled with watercolour and scrapbooking but have really found my passion with journaling and lettering – and my six year old son loves to join in too!
For Creativity and Wellbeing Week, I’m venturing out beyond my online platforms and hosting in-person workshops. Come and try a taster session to see how you can improve your own wellbeing.

Join me at Morrab Library in Penzance for an introduction to journaling and modern calligraphy. We’ll explore areas such as mindfulness, building self-esteem, gratitude, positive affirmations, goal setting and tracking, and more, all while having fun with pen and paper.

Adult sessions will run on Friday 20 May from 1:15-2:15pm and 2:30-3:30pm.
Tickets are £5 each and include a goody bag (including a notebook and pens), plus a hot drink.
Children’s sessions will run on Saturday 21 May from 1:15-2:15pm and 2:30-3:30pm.
This season is aimed at children in key stages 1 and 2. If the weather is dry, we’ll end the session exploring mindfulness and nature in Morrab Gardens.
Tickets are £5 per child and include a goody bag (including a notebook, pencil, and stickers), plus a hot drink for grown-ups. Siblings aged four and under are welcome to attend at no additional cost and colouring sheets and pens will be available to help keep them entertained.
