I never thought it would be so difficult to decide what to buy your son for his first birthday. He has everything he needs, clothes until he’s two years old (ish – you never know how quick they’ll grow!) and a ton of books and toys. But, of course, you can’t help spotting things and thinking “ooh, he’ll love that!”. Here’s a peak at the things we’re buying/lusting after…

I’m crap with picking age-appropriate toys. I see things all the time and think they’d be great for Jenson but they’re marked at 18 months+ or even two or three years. I reckon Jenson will soon love building blocks though and you can’t beat something colourful!
The ‘big’ thing we’re getting him ourselves is a pre-balance bike. Luke’s big on cycling (like, a gentle ride is 60 miles, big) and we’re keen for Jenson to learn to ride a bike at a young age. Balance bikes seem to the best way for children to learn and can mean they don’t even need to use stabilisers, so this should give him a good head start.
We picked up this awesome bongo drum in Sainsburys the other day and decided to put it aside until his birthday.
Jenson already has the Spider Man towel poncho and totally needs the Iron Man one too!
Remember what I was saying about ages for toys? I eyed up so many cute wooden ones but soft ones are much more appropriate at the moment. Plus these have Peter Rabbit on them!
Toy Story is frickin’ awesome and I love the merch – especially this epic hoody (which he needs in 18-24 months for next winter) and this incredible toddler backpack with built-in reins.
This clock is so cute for a boy’s room!
You can never have too many books, ammiright? Jenson would love this Thomas book and the artwork in Oliver Jeffers’ books is awesome, so he needs Lost and Found to go with Up and Down.
I love this explorer wall art for Jenson’s room. Not only would it go great with the previously mentioned clock, it’s practical. The walls in our house are impossible to mount things on and this looks lightweight enough to hold. We’d have to have full colour instead of white so it shows against the walls though.
I love the wigwam dens loads of parents have been making for their children. As I’m not blessed in the sewing department, I’ve been trying to find one at a decent size that’s reasonably priced – enter Argos!
