I was sent a copy of this journal for review purposes and all thoughts are my own. This post features affiliate links
Have I mentioned lately how much I adore Sarah Knight? Actually, a look back at my posts shows that it’s been almost a whole year, so I think it’s high time we reminded ourselves why we need the No Fucks Given Guides in our lives.
I’ve read all of her books and completed the Get Your Shit Together Journal, so I’m well versed in her sweary advice. Of course, it’s only natural to have the odd slip up, and The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k Journal has helped me re-assess my Fuck Budget. In fact, when reading the book for the first time, I thought how handy it would be to have a journal to complete alongside it, and I’m so glad this finally exists.

The journal starts with the basics of not giving a fuck: it’s about taking care of yourself first, allowing yourself to say no (guilt-free!), and, most importantly, “reducing mental clutter and eliminating annoying people and things from your life, freeing up space to truly enjoy all of the things you do give a fuck about.” Think it sounds too good to be true? You’re wrong! Just grab a pen, work your way through the journal, identify those areas of your life which bring you joy, and which exist solely to annoy, then put together your Fuck Budget.

Don’t forget The Holy Fucking Trinity. The number of fucks you have to give are finite – use them wisely. They can largely be broken into down to time, energy, and money. Which is more precious to you? For me, it’s time – as a busy working mum, I can easily cross the likes of reality TV and TikTok off the list of things to give a fuck about. Ain’t nobody got time for that. What I do have time for, however, is engaging Instagram communities and the new season of This is Us (starts tonight on Amazon Prime by the way!).

As for energy, I can’t be fucked with ‘proper’ exercise, like going to the gym or for a run. But give me a mindful nature walk and I’m killing a million birds with one stone – getting outside, spending time with Jenson, moving, mindfulness… Perfect!

As for money, I’ve never had much of a disposable income. Forget exotic holidays, lavish meals, and anti-ageing products. I’d rather spend my hard-earned cash on the latest lettering products and books with irresistible covers.
Worried about putting this into practice without offending anyone? There’s a whole section on that, focused on feelings and opinions. And one of those fucks you can quickly cross off your list is giving a crap what people think. You’re welcome.
The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k Journal is published on Thursday 29 October and is the perfect gift idea (for yourself or a loved one) to start the new year on the right track.
