A Cornish Geek Letters, blogging, stationery

Getting back to blogging

I’ve neglected this blog over the last year or two and I really want to get back into creating long-form content. As I uploaded photos ready for my next post, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole of previous posts…

I’ve been blogging for 20 years but this blog in particular is nearly 12 years old. Previously called A Few of my Favourite Things (it became A Cornish Geek in 2014), it launched in July 2012 with a post on my favourite books. My first stationery post followed in September.

my stationery

It was largely a lifestyle blog, exploring books, films, stationery, life in Cornwall, and my pregnancy, as well as my son’s first couple of years. It later focused on books and stationery. My first National Stationery Week post came in 2013, with my first trip to the London Stationery Show in April 2018.

I was surprised to discover how long I’ve been journaling and lettering for – I started journaling in June 2016 and lettering/calligraphy in August 2017, but it wasn’t until Lockdown that I started to focus on brush lettering – thanks to the fabulous Milly at Blink Lettering.

I shared my first mental health post in October 2016 and since then I’ve very much focused on the idea of stationery as self-care, with A Cornish Geek Letters launching in 2021.  My first lettering challenge came in February, followed by my first journaling challenge in April, before workshops started in May 2022. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Instagram, and my workshops bring me more joy than I ever thought possible, but I want to spend more time creating content on my blog, building my resources to help you with your journaling and lettering journeys, and signposting awesome stationery you really need to add to your stash. First, I need to spend some time archiving old/irrelevant content, then I want to refresh some of my favourite posts:

I also want to bring back my ‘what’s in my pencil case‘ series. Drop me an email if you’d like to featured: e.farley27@gmail.com

I think that’s it for now. Look out for more content coming soon.

  1. Hi Emma, welcome back to blogging! I’m also doing a refresh of old content, we’ve been blogging for about the same amount of time so it’s nice that our blogs have grown with us.
I’m no longer on social media but was happy to see your new post pop up in Feedly.
Looking forward to seeing new posts and hope you’re having a lovely week so far!
